General Information

Troop 128 is an Outreach Ministry of Epworth United Methodist Church. What this means is the troop is considered part of Epworth’s youth ministry and its outreach to the community. Epworth has applied to the Boy Scouts of America for permission to have a Boy Scout Troop. Without Epworth’s backing for the troop, we would be disbanded or would need to find a new organization to support the Troop. We, and other local troops, are members of the Cannon District. The Cannon District is one of 6 districts, covering 8 counties, that make up the Central North Carolina Council. The National Council of Boy Scouts of America is the governing body over all of the councils in the United States of America. The Boy Scouts of America was chartered in 1916 by the United States Congress to provide an educational program for boys and young men. Boy Scouts of America was modeled after the Scouting movement founded by Lord Robert S.S. Baden-Powell in England in 1908.
